Animal Welfare & Politics

posted by admin in Uncategorized

Back in 2006 a new political party was launched in the United Kingdom, called ‘animals count’ which seeks to campaign for animal rights. There political message was clear ‘”The time is right for a party dedicated to animals. Animals count - they count on you.”

In the pre-election campaign of the New Labour party in 1997 the members pledged to make changes to better the situation around many animal welfare issues, this included a ban on Vivisection (experiments on live animals). However there is light for the animals in the political spectrum, which shines in the form of the ‘Green Party’. In an analysis conducted by an organisation called ‘Protecting Animals in Democracy’ the Green Party polled joint first. Not surprisingly the hunting friendly bunch Conservative party polled worst with the UKIP coming up behind them.

Gay Marriage

As someone who stands in the lefty corner I can fully support the call for gay marriage and for those couples who wish to marry to be allowed to do it where they want to. Those that oppose gay marriage are discriminating against the LGBT community and in doing so are denying them their human rights. LGBT rights are protected under the humans rights act, although many that oppose the LGBT community do not respect or recognise their human rights.

Smacking your child: Right or Wrong

posted by admin in Uncategorized

Smacking your children when they do something wrong or as a form of punishment has been around since who knows when… It certainly is a very controversial subject and one that ignites a lot of passion is many. With recent debates on the subject being brought up by my left wing political brothers I thought it was about time to fire up the laptop, start blogging and get my own opinion out there.

National Health Society

RMN jobs, nurses’ jobs, doctors’ jobs…all are being advertised on a regular basis across the UK. Following the coalition’s reception to the proposed changes in public healthcare it is perhaps not very surprising that so many positions are available to fill throughout the NHS. For a party that swore it would not touch the NHS if it were to win the election, the Conservatives have shown themselves to the be the two faced liars they really are by introducing legislation that could signal the beginning of the end for one of the UK’s most loved and revered services.

As a nation the UK is envied and admired by many other countries for the things we have achieved and advanced. Healthcare is something that for all our blustering, we have largely managed to get right. As a UK citizen I have always been extremely proud of the NHS. It may not be perfect, but it is ten times better then many other country’s health care systems. All you need do is take a look at the US health care system to see the yawning chasm that exists between the NHS and other comparable organisations. Barack Obama knows this which is why he has been pushing for increased public access to basic health care in the states. We seem to be going in the opposite direction.

Following the new health care bill private companies are now being invited to tender for services that are traditionally provided by the NHS. Whilst in fiscal terms this makes sense – competition can increase quality when handled correctly – the social repercussions could be tragic and incurable. Were we to have a number of private companies competing in a bidding war to provide health care for the public, eventually one company would obtain a monopoly and corner the market. It is what happens in every commercial sector so why would the NHS be any different?

Cameron and his cronies would have us all believe that there will be hundreds of jobs available in the future for frontline services in the NHS following the reduction of administrative staff deemed to be unnecessary. If that is the case then why are so many GPs and surgeons worried? The reason is that they know that once you allow a private company to set just one toe into the NHS then it no longer is a public service. The NHS has a duty of care to its patients – the public. Private companies have a duty of care to their shareholders and then the patients. They will think first and foremost on providing dividends to the controlling interests before worrying about patient care.

What is happening to the NHS, signals a disturbing direction toward the future of the organisation. Whilst I accept that the previous Labour government must bear a lot of responsibility for allowing us to get into the current financial situation we are in, the current government must understand that cutting the NHS is not a solution. If we dismantle the very service that shows everyone just how health care should be, then we will be reverting to the dark ages.

German Financial Machine

The UK is definitely a strong market - from the Red Diesel Middlesbrough market to the financial giants based in London, the British economy is one of the three European economic giants. However, the EU is now undergoing a major reform and the reason for its stability has one name - Germany. The Germans have been supporting the EU for two years now, doing almost everything by themselves in order to both gain more international financial power and go ahead More

American Job Crisis

In America President Obama and the Republican Party are planning on slashing social programs (even though they disagree on the amount) despite the fact that the American people are facing a job crisis that shows no sign of stopping. Then what good will a HR software be to anyone if no one is going to hire.

There are over 14 million people in the US who are unemployed. The official unemployment rate at 9.2% doesn’t even fully show the real More

Cost of Intervention

Many school management jobs were lost by people holding public offices, many public sector administration clerks were freed of duty and many people remained unemployed because of the cuts undertaken by the UK government. Furthermore, the government supports the extension of the cuts scheme in order to save money and thus protect the UK from further financial disturbances. But new info reveals some controversial information - what about the expenses of the country that have nothing to do with the More

Struggle For Palestine

Despite its quite friendly relationship with the US, Israel is facing American criticism when the president Barrack Obama announced that the borders between the two countries as established in 1969 should be restored. This generated the view that the two countries should face some serious peace talks and should reconsider their positions on the current point and what should be done for the establishment of a peaceful region.

The president’s speech comes as if from nowhere. Never have been such More

Ed Miliband is getting it right. He is saying what needs to be said, in that the Liberal Democrat voters via Nick Clegg, are propping up a torie government that is making ideological policy decisions that were not voted in on a popular mandate. I obviously hate Margaret Thatcher, but the only thing that can be said for her is that she was ACTUALLY elected, and not put into power by back room deals and lies like the current administration. Alternative media

It’s been a long time since I watched the “mainstream” news or read a newspaper that I didn’t buy off a shifty-looking guy standing on a street corner under a ’Socialist Worker'banner. I get most of my news from the internet; in fact, I get a lot of my news from satirical sites like The Onion and the British version, The Daily Mash. The real story may have been distorted almost beyond recognition by the time they’re finished with it, More
