Is Capitalism Really Acceptable?
When the Conservative- Liberal Democrat Coalition Agreement was published in 2010 by the new government following the elections, it proposed to bring about banking reforms and address the financial services sector’s unacceptable bonuses. In spite of the public outcry, the question still remains, “Why should these unacceptable bonuses be given up?”, and who determines what is an unacceptable bonus? It seems too hypocritical for the government to be beating up on the capitalist simply because the public outcry is loud.
The next thing is whether or not these possible reforms will truly make any sort of difference. Remember that in a capitalist society there has to be the rich and the poor. The rich will only find different ways to maximize their earnings, that’s all. It’s really like an Enigin scam where they try to fool the rest of us that true changes will be made but chances are there will not be any form of equity in the way wealth is shared.
For too long, politicians have promoted the hope, belief, and desire that capitalism can really be fair. Sadly it can’t and to hide the rhetoric, they fool the masses in to thinking we are all in the same boat. No we are not since none of what they propose such as performance linked pay, responsible capitalism, and success rewards do not truly benefit the average person in their lives.
Most voters are not upset because the bankers and others are earning such sizable bonuses and helped crash the financial market. What is irking them is the fact that they are all poor and are losing their jobs and pensions. But this is all what capitalism is about, the rich get richer and the poor stays poor.
Now what if we had a society that was a moneyless socialist society and also a classless one? Chances are what has happened in the financial markets would not have happened.
Once again capitalism thrives on inequalities and will never be in favour of the poorest amongst us.
